The Challenge

A luxury cosmetics brand required premium packaging for a holiday gift set launch with only a 4-week production window. The design called for multi-level embossing, registered hot foil stamping in rose gold, and soft-touch lamination — a technically demanding combination that requires precise registration across multiple finishing passes. The brand needed 15,000 boxes, each with magnetic closure inserts and custom foam trays for product presentation. Previous attempts with other vendors had resulted in foil misregistration and lamination bubbling.

Our Solution

Our in-house tooling team fabricated custom dies and foil plates simultaneously while prepress finalized print files — running these workstreams in parallel rather than sequentially. A 3-pass finishing process was designed: offset print on 350gsm artboard, followed by soft-touch lamination, then registered embossing with simultaneous foil application. Critical registration marks were laser-etched into the die plates to achieve ±0.15mm alignment accuracy. Custom foam inserts were die-cut in-house and integrated into the box assembly line.

[ THE RESULTS ]

The Results

All 15,000 premium gift set boxes were delivered 3 days ahead of the deadline. The soft-touch finish with rose-gold foil and multi-level embossing created a tactile unboxing experience that the brand's customers responded to immediately. Holiday collection sell-through increased 35% compared to the previous year's standard packaging, and the brand attributed significant social media engagement to unboxing content shared by customers.
